As much as it pains me to admit I actually did get an RTX 2080 (and not really for ray tracing abilities), I wonder how long Nvidia can hold the "it costs so much because the tech is so new" label to justify the price tag for the RTX series now that CryTek pretty much made ray tracing hardware pointless.

RTX Off: Real-time ray tracing could become available for every modern GPU someday, including AMD’s and Nvidia’s current hardware. Crytek has built a real-time ray tracing system that doesn’t care about special hardware, and they’ll be implementing it into CryEngine to let any game developer build their games with ray tracing for free.

Lol keep buying those dumb cards dummies lmaooooooooo told ya

Before the 20'series $hitty GPU's came out. Everything was fine with Pascal GPU"s the 10 series GPUS life was once GOOD/GREAT.

I have two Asus 27" Monitors one is an NT Panel the other an IPS panel both G-sync at 2560x1440p one is 144 refresh rate the other up to 165 refresh rate. Never had any issues with g-sync, watching youtube, Netflix or Xfinity. Everything was fine none of my games crashed or gave any errors. Well until the 20'series GPU's came out it's been total chaos with these god damn drivers. NO G-SYNC WORKING, FLICKERING ON both monitors, black screens. One monitor is set at 144 refresh and the other at 85 refresh NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES.

It's been way to long and NVIDIA hasn't fixed shit. Listen COMMON SENSE. There should be drivers for the 10series/pascal GPU's and another set of separate drivers for the $$hitty 20 series GPU's they're not the same and that's the damn f-n issue. Nvidia get your damn AI to write and fix these DRIVERS. AMD is introducing ray tracing I hope to GOD they do a better job than you and gives you wake up call. I've given you plenty of my hard earned money and my shit doesn't work right until I run 388. drivers all is WELL except BFV, assassin's creed odyssey, division 2 none will run on those old drivers. yet g-sync works and all my other games. *it's frustrating because the NVIDIA can't fix shit and the reason is those stock pile of shitty 20 cards in their warehouse…………………………sitting

My rtx 2070 and Metro Exodus on highest settings, 1920×1200, no dlss result in 60 fps(drop to 54 in demanding areas) no joke, best reflections and lighting I have ever seen.
Battlefield V on the other hand is a mess with constant frame-drops and broken ray tracing and game-breaking bugs. I was ecpecting the complete opposite… GO GO 4A Games!!!

Hey Linus, i have a gigabyte x79-up4 rev 1.0 motherboard and i had been thinking about getting a RTX card but dont know if its compatible with my 2011 hardware from 2011 lol.. I was wondering if you could share some insight with some testing? As much as id like to upgrade my hardware, my i7 3820 still plays the latest games without any issues.. Im struggling to get a 10 series card since now they are redundant here in Australia.

    Guys,i'm in a dilemma..
there are probobly some hardware nerds in this comment section who knows their stuff..
So I've had this gaming laptop for a few years and it's starting to become a problem to run the games that my friends are playing nowadays, smoothly, or basically at all in some cases.
I'm turning 30 in a few weeks and thought that I should indulge myself in getting a new gaming laptop as a birthday gift to myself. (I travel in my job a lot so, a laptop is what I will go for, again)
I've been doing a Little bit of research, but I unfortunately don't have the "pre-knowledge" required to understand what all these darned numbers mean in actuality…

if I buy one with the RTX2080 it'll cost me cost me around 3.5k, essentially the same machine but with the RTX2070 will drop the price to around 2.8k but then again: How vast of a difference will that be when I actually start gaming and how long will it take for the 2080 to become obsolete in comparioson to the 2070, is it Worth the extra 700bucks?
I also looked at one with the 2060 in it for around 2.2k but I basically have the same qustions about it: Will there be any major difference for me while gaming? will the games being produced outclass the 2060 by a wide margin in comparison with the 2070 or 2080?

I'm about to take a huge chunk of my savings out for this and I want to make the correct purchase for it…help!

Question is. how does the 2080 Stack to the 2070?? I was told the 2070 is on par with the 2080. Certain games run better on the 2080 but other (certain) games run better on the 2070?
Im sick of hearing this card is better then that vs that is not as good as better. What do I believe???? I have the Evga Geforce RTX 2080

In 1986 i paid $4995 for a TARGA32 graphics card. In 1992 I paid $2000 for a Number Nine GXiTC. Today's prices are very low considering the level of performance today.

Thanks Linus this is going to help me a lot towards my next laptop purchase. It's not just a desktop replacement (ASUS Rampage IV / Intel 3930K/ GTX 1070) but mostly need a system that can stream and playback games in 2680/1440 and is portable. I will still us my desktop but for recording only and although a desktop is more suitable I need something more portable. I'm looking at these 3 laptops and would really appreciate any advice or feedback you or your audience could provide. My budget is 3k more or less, thanks ASUS ROG G703GI-XS98K , Alienware 15 R4 , ASUS G703GX-PS91K

A 1080ti is about 2000$ on Newegg right now in comparison to a 2080, priced at around 800-1000$ depending on the supplier/brand. Could anybody actually explain to me why the 1080ti's price would sky rocket that high even though it's only slightly better than the RTX2080? I'm having issues deciding on whether or not the 1080ti is worth picking up at that high of a price tag.
