In 1984, during the Cold War, a Russian programmer named Alexey Pajitnov created something special: A puzzle game called Tetris. It soon gained a cult following within the Soviet Union. A battle for the rights to publish Tetris erupted when the game crossed the Iron Curtain. Tetris not only took the video game industry by storm, it helped break the boundaries between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Thank you very much Gaming History for making and sharing this fantastic story about Tetris.
I believe almost 70% people on this planet have played this legendary game but never heard of the battle and inside story of Tetris. I've learned a lot. And big big thank to Father of Tetris, Alexey. You made my childhood more delightful.
This episode was so well put together and emotionally moving that you have earned my subscription. Excellent job covering one of my favorite games and my love of Russian history.
That's how the game works. everytime a row is completed it disintegrates and the blocks above drop down. The game doesn't really last forever, it speeds up on each level. Eventually the block drop so fast you can't keep up and the board quickly tops out.
This is wonderful! I couldn't tear myself away from this incredible story. I have a newfound appreciation for a game I already love and all I can say is thank you for taking the time and effort to put this together.
This is so good, and the vibe as well, with the music and stuff, I would like to have this on TV every night. This separates YouTube from Tv not the poor Paul brothers…
the story of tetris and the struggle of it creator could not have been made into a better video! keep doing your thing man you make learning video game histroy fun and magical!
They should make a movie out off this crazy story. – with a Tetris ( live meter) for every one evolve in this battle * every good moves = a Tetris. * every bad move = a bad placement of a block. with the creator having zero until the end.
I like it how there are so many life lessons over one video game. Capitalism over communism always. Nepotism/Cronyism usually do not work out so well. Cut out all the middle man crap that do not add value to the product. Lastly true friendship will eventually prevail.

I see this not just as a story about Tetris but about the how Communism and Capitalism affect the creator of a world phenomenon. Amazing story.
