didn't we just lose net neutrality? If we can't even get decent speed internet, how will we be able to remotely game? This is a great idea in theory, but until companies don't try to charge is per byte, we'll still need local gaming.

I got 1 gbps but from my experience you'll often get throttled by upload servers. There's also 10gbps in my country if you want to go nuts.

For all intents and purposes I have always thought this to be ideal. Why run the software at home? The software should be run on a server that makes up a room everyone joins. And only our display and inputs should be sent out and received. Nothing more than some video and a few game controlling inputs. Yes.. I see the light at the end of the tunnel on the stupid expensive, unfairly matched up, pay to win PVP. And thousands of dollars dumped annually by some gamers into their Pcs just to win. And low settings at which some claim is necessary to display at a descent frame rate. Yet we all know its just a ploy to defeat camouflage and foliage, rendering sneak attacks useless, while they rob themselves of a good gaming experience in the name of better scoring. Now if they just priced these low enough to fill game rooms, and there by able to keep matches more localized, this could be magical. Besides when all gamers PCs become obsolete in like 6months or so. They will make the obvious choice and join in. No more gaming consoles, and PC game machines splitting the wide world of gaming. I see a world where everyone, possibly even mobile devices on 5g wifi, all dumped into a immersive gaming field. With games like War Thunder available to all, and low res cheaters unable to defeat camo.

besides talking about what everyone already said in comments regarding internet speed around the world, i think people forget what pc gamers dislike compared to consoles, and it is all kind of subscription fees just to bee able play games, and 35 quid for a month is a lot to pay when you think that you won't really own anything at the end of your subscription. It is just like renting a nice apartment, you pay every month and it feels nice , but then you need to move out and all you have left is a memories . . Companies come and go, and if something happens to them you are fucked, and loose everything. Cloud gaming might be future, but not at present. i live in fucking London, and in my post code fastest internet i can get is not great, depending on the servers you are connecting to. All you are showing is in demo rooms, go and try it out in in usual gamers home and then lets see MS, and all the other real shit, i understand they paid you ton of money to promote them but this will not catch on any time soon.

    >35$ a month
yeah that's the price of a gaming pc update every 2 years: 24X35 = 840$. You're basically renting a pc. No such thing as a free lunch.

That's a cool raspberry pi like solution. Of course you would need an excellent connection, probably provided with a SaaS architecture. Pretty cool concept! All the power to Shadow!

Nobody will subscribe at $35 per month. They’ll sell off the tech to a bigger company then it will be trashed.

One thing I would have loved you to cover is viruses. It looks like you get your own user account to do anything you want. But with prices like this, anyone could buy one and make a mess with things, unless I'm missing something here.

SIgh…. I can't wait to see their user agreement, I bet this will go downhill like Facebook twitter….Once you OFFEND someone and they start crying, you will be BANNED for life from your favorite games and all of your data seized….Just watch, if you are accused of anything related to race, sexuality or bullying, even if totally false I bet your gone from that platform….I see another safe space coming…It sounds awesome for those who want to play high end games and can't afford a monster PC but it is a matter of time till it is politicized and the company is pressured and has to take a side….Sorry to be Debbie downer but this is the trend these days

I used onlive on my crappy dual core 2 back in 2008ish. And suprisingly, It worked very well for me: there was no lag, and while the quality looked somewhat shabby, it was way better than playing at 5-10 fps. I heard onlive only died because the manager was an idiot that refused contracts from large companies, refused to cooperate with companies that also worked with the onlive competitor, and refused to delegate power to subordinates.

I‘m using it for about 2 weeks now and i‘m really really surprised how great it‘s working. My Client PC is a Macbook Pro early 2011 with 8GB RAM. Internet speed is not a problem, have 400mbit/s down and 40Mbit/s upload so that‘s more then enough spped for the cloud Gaming. Already tried ARK, PUBG and GTA 5 at the highest settings you can take it to. With 1080p (my monitor doesn‘t support 4k) i have the whole time above 60FPS and at max speed 100FPS so it‘s more then enough FPS so you don‘t have any lags which is a fact i never expected possible!
I have a 3 Month Subscription atm. but will change it to 1 Year when it‘s possible, so i only pay 29,95€+2,99€ for the extended 1TB Harddrive. In my opinion thats a very very good price because you always get upgraded Hardware and don‘t have to worry that i have to buy a bigger GPU in anfew months. Also i don‘t have a job atm so i have very less money so buying a Gamer-PC that can run the Games mentioned above would cost me at least 700-800€ and i don‘t have that much money.
I also tested LiquidSky, it was not bad but i had several issues with the mouse and i had to configure a lot! Also tested Parsec with a rented Dedicated Server with an GTX 1080 and there i didn‘t got it working so that showed me the massive work for setting up a Server that can run those Games.
So i‘m very happy i tested Shadow (at first i wasn‘t 100% sure if i would test it because of the long Setup Time (2-4 Weeks atm., i got mine after ~3Weeks. But im very happy i gave it a chance because never dreamed of playing PUBG or ARK on the highest possible videosettings that‘s possible and i only had a few times under 60 FPS but you don‘t notice that ingame. Also the Input lag is so tiny that i couldn‘t tell which one is running, Shadow or a normal Gaming PC when i played both ways 🙂

So i can fully recommend to buy that service it‘s worth the money!
At the moment they have a Christmas offer where you get the Monthly plan for only 30€ a month which is absolutely great! And if you use the friendcode which you can get from your friends or other Shadow user and with that you save another 10€ for the first month!
My opinion after testing it for 2 Weeks now i don‘t want to miss that service 🙂
I also installed my Development tools Jetbeain Rider and unity3D and it works also great and fast so that Development makes a lot of fun on it too 🙂
Before that i had a Cloud PC for Development which costs 40€/Month so using Shadow for this also i pay less and have not only a cloudserver, i have a gaming PC bundelt together and pay less than for the server i used until now which is great!

And just for your information because i think some people will assume that i‘m an employee at Shadow or that i‘m paid for such a great experience: I‘m not related to Shadow and i wasn‘t payed for writing the Comment.

Now i‘m waiting for the Shadow Ghost to be released/avaliable. I hope they release it in January as a Post on Discord said it‘s delayed from Dezember to January, hope it doesn‘t get delayed again.
