If there's ever a next splinter cell after Sam's departure there are two people still.. Briggs and Kestral
ReplyWhich version of chaos therory is best. Original xbox or ps3 triolgy remake. Is it the same as Pandora jittery. Thanks
Replyforever waiting for Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory to be added to the Backwards Compatibility list, maybe people would dig a remaster of the old games? I sure would! loved the vid man!
ReplyThe alcohol analogy was very accurate except you overestimate most people's sense of taste
ReplyThanks for the warning about Pandora Tomorrow in the HD Collection. I do actually want it. Just one question though, how's Chaos Theory in the HD Collection?
ReplyThe original Splinter Cell was good, it was just what you expected. Pandora Tomorrow was a lane disappointment. Nothing's improved, it's completely the same, but with a stupid story and nothing to care about. Chaos Theory is one of the best games ever made. Apart from that horrible start when they torched one guy to death, it's so amazing. They improved his movements, the interactions and the music this much, it felt so amazing. Unbelievable. Very good job. Double Agent is a two sided thing. The original version was way better, exactly what you expected from playing a double agent. It's actually the same like the previous game, the same graphics and stuff, but with a good story and a great game play. The second version on PC and XBox 360 was great in respects of the graphics, but way too glitchy, not appropriate programmed. And the story is not what you expect from playing a double agent. The entire game is too bright, making it a stealth game without stealth.
And Conviction is when it died. Conviction was a lifeless action desert. Nothing but awful action that let to nowhere. The graphics are amazing, but the story and the game play is ass.
SC:DA PC Version's dialogue and storyline is kinda robotic IMO.

damn i loved the series. haven´t played it in a while but now i will replay it.
ReplyThe only thing i remember about pandora tomorrow is calling it in spanish "Pandero en tu morro" wich translates to "Ass in your face" as a joke with friends.
ReplyThanks for your review. I'm also a huge Splinter Cell fan. I played every game since the first one, even wrote a guide for it, and I couldn't agree more on just about every single point you made. You also hit ALL the main points including dodging Pandora Tomorrow on Steam, bringing back Chaos Theory multiplayer and the 2 different versions of Double Agent. I found out much later as well and picked it up. I enjoyed the original Xbox Ubisoft Montreal version more. Like you said, the 360 Shanghai version developed JBA more and took Sam out of the shadows like Big Boss in MGS3 but the Xbox version had better level design and gameplay. It also linked to Conviction a lot better. It felt a lot more personal and touching at that very last level when Sam killed the Splinter Cell operative and went rogue. I'd rate Double Agent for the Xbox 8.5/10 and 360 a 7/10. I have mixed feelings about Conviction. It went from a slower more tactical sneaking approach to a Jason Bourne run n gun parkour thriller. Not necessarily a bad thing but much, much different. Mark and execute was pretty cool but made the game so dang easy. It really did feel like the series kept becoming more and more simplified over time while the story got more ridiculous and Sam got younger like Benjamin Button. Don't forget Sam was brought OUT OF RETIREMENT in the very first game. Shame Michael Ironside quit, he was a great voice actor but I agree as well, they needed to make a new Splinter Cell operative. Since so many things about Blacklist were new or different, they should have rebooted by that point. Still to me, it felt like the game had no soul like Pandora. Something just felt off about it. Finally, I totally agree on Ubisoft making one last Sam Fisher game and passing the torch off to someone new. 100%. Still, I would like it if video games didn't have the characters age along the way (kinda like Solid Snake) but it is what it is. Ironside is going to retire soon enough. Oh and definitely no more free roam Ubisoft formula bullshit. We need a sequel to the Chaos Theory formula but with refinements for 2018.
Great video bro! I enjoyed listening to it.
ReplyI think that if you're forced to get a different voice actor for your iconic character, and you still insist on making it the same character, the best, if not only way to make it work is to do a prequel, make that character MUCH younger, and maybe do an origin story. That way, the different voice is a bit more justified at least. But yeah, I see nothing wrong with doing a spinoff with a different character.
ReplyA little off topic… But I think every game is infinitely improved by making the campaign co-op optional.
I remember playing Chaos Theory WISHING the entire (mainline) campaign was co-op
ReplyChaos Theory…..from a time when Ubisoft didn’t make boring, repetitive open world games. Funny how amazing CT holds up so many years later where almost every single Ubi game of the past 5 years is well….forgettable.
ReplyI've played Chaos Theory numerous times but I still think that Conviction was the best.
The mark and execute feature was not overpowered simply because the number of enemies in each encounter was increased. The writing and animations on the walls was simply genius.
Also not having the best option to do missions completely stealthy, disregarding a good amount of gadgets in the process made almost all of the gadgets feel usable.
Also the weapon and gadgets selection was a good addition.
And the best thing of all was the sonar googles: the ultimate stealth predator feel word, especially in the mission when you get them, with the acoustic roof above.
Also the interrogations were pretty awesome.
Having only played Conviction and liked it, this video convinced me to pick up the first 3 games. Got all 3 for original Xbox for under $4 total and can’t wait to play this weekend
ReplyI think ive played Chaos theory like 10 times. Pandora Tomorrow 3 times (although it feels different indeed, its still cool) and the first one 5 times. Double agent 3 times now (it has a high replay value), blacklist 1 time and conviction 1 time. UBISOFT WE NEED A NEW SPLINTER CELL (and please a real one, just a chaos theory like splinter cell)
ReplyI hate conviction. You can tell it's bad if the game shoots for you.
ReplyI completely disagree with the quicksaving. Giving players the option to just save anywhere whenever is cheap and eliminates any challenge. I used to be of fan of infinite quicksaves but my opinion has since changed. However quicksaving can work if done well. Like in hitman, where you can only save a set number of times. So, for example, they could give you a couple of quicksaves to use everytime you reach a checkpoint.
ReplyMany Splinter Cell fans including myself agree killing off Sarah in Double Agent was a terrible mistake on the part of the writers. While I don't like the way Ubisoft ended up reviving her in Conviction (mostly because it felt like a tonal change in the plot they were building), I think it was less of caving to the fans and more like they also realized their mistake.
Come to think of it, I believe Conviction is the one Splinter Cell game that had a major retool mid-development since the E3 demo they showed was nothing like the final game. This would not be the last time Ubi did this since Ghost Recon Future Soldier also changed development.
ReplyChaos theory remastered story and coop with double agent spies vs Mercs remastered would be 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
