Fallout 3 Is Better Than You Think

Fallout 3 is an utter classic that came out 10 years ago, and some rather unkind words have been said about it in that time. So I’d like to tell you just how good Fallout 3 is, and how parts of it might even be the best a Fallout game has ever been…

Whenever I meet people who complain about fallout 3 they never seem to notice or appreciate the amount of detail that fallout 3 contained. I remember after playing through the escape section for a fifth time I found a log in the Control room where you sound the alarm and it detailed how your father and some other vault dwellers had done some exploring outside of the vault and logged the creatures and interactions with the people in megaton. I thought that was such a cool little detail. Not too mention a personal experience when I first explored the dunwich building. I had no idea the devs intentionally made that place haunted so I was so spooked when you started hallucinating and seeing pre-war flashbacks, disappearing heads, and just random creepy shit. I was so scared I legit didn't even finish exploring the rest of the building. I also agree 100% with you on the metro stations. When I first played fallout 3 I had no idea they were tucked off areas you could find by exploring. I remember I found a random sub-station in between exploring the tunnels where I found two ghouls in a room and plungers were stuck everywhere including on a random mannequin. lol my first thought was WTF?

And those were just some of my experiences off the top of my head. I always watch other you tubers and watch the amount of details and references that they find so it really makes me wonder if people just casually played through fallout 3 and wrote it off as mediocre vs. if they actually really played the game and took time to explore and playout different experiences. It almost seems like people are just hoping on a hate bandwagon when you can really tell there was a lot more thought and care that went into this game compared to what haters say.

Just wanted to add on the subject of randomness in F3. My favorite thing to do was to trigger the Behemoth that spawns when you grab a bear out of a shopping cart cage at Jury Street Metro. Then run over to where a Behemoth is imprisoned in Evergreen Mills. Let the Behemoth out and kite it all the way back to the first Behemoth and LET THEM FIGHT. Spoilers Jury street always wins cause he has a fire hydrant.

Fallout 3 has choices? The Oasis, destroy the heart absolutely! Get a permanent perk! as oppose to run of the mill gear. The Replicated man, tell Harkness his secrets safe, Get arguably the best gun in the game, then go tell the Doctor and also get the perk. I'm just joking at the idea that there are quests where there is a clear winnner and the choice is superficial cause why on earth would you give up access to such awesome rewards! The Superhuman gambit is tricky because clearly you want both costumes. You can kill both or you can do some very sneaky reverse pickpocketing. insert another piece of armor into their inventory so that they change outfits and then pickpocket the costumes off of them.
Agreed on the point about the radio. I listened to F3's radio all the time. Probably due to how much more combat time is spent in F3 and how I spend more time listening to conversations in New Vegas. But also the music just wasn't as catchy. Kick in the head was about the only song I loved hearing maybe two other tracks.
Love the video. Discovered the channel. Subscribed. Still probably going to play New Vegas more than 3 in the future. New Vegas I feel allowed more player expression and variety in character builds. Two of my favorite plays was the Cowboy build (centered around the Cowboy perk) where I only used Lever action weapons. And my Junkie build that used energy weapons (centered around that I never used drugs in F3 and Turbo was so much fun when you can make it last for so long.) I did the same thing in F4 to much enjoyment.

I want to see a video that measures DLC vs DLC F3 vs NV! now if you excuse me I have a terribly large archive of videos to watch.

I like fo3 because of its atmosphere, fo4 because of its gameplay and graphic ( although i hate the absent of RPG elements ) and FONV because of the story and multiple choices.
I wish FO5 would combine all the previous 3 , except for FO76.

Damn. I've put hundreds of hours into FO3 and in the first 20 minutes you've already described to me locations I've never been to or heard of. This game is massive, even for today, let alone 2008.

NV was an awesome game, I wish I had played it on PC to get a taste of all the amazing mods that came out to add more to it but it felt quite empty to me I didn't have the fun digging around and analyzing every little thing I had seen like in fallout 3. I think a replay is in order.

I think that really pointless critic of F3 was one of reason why F4 was what it was, instead of praising right things, people criticized it, because "it's Bethesda"; fallout 3 was pretty brave and unique game for 2008…

Fallout New Vegas would be amazing if we didn't know who shot us at all like just seeing Benny"s face spoils half the game

something ive never understood about FNV is that the strip is baiscally spotless building wise but everything else is destroyed somehow and the immediate area around it is also destroyed like what? how? there isnt even any distance between the strip and eastside which is a total ruin. so much for fnv being a better game when realism isnt there, also how come mr house was able to have a defence system that could defend against nukes but struggles to keep the casinos under control and fails to combat anyone who attacks the strip? FNV wasnt thought out very well especially with the fiends and NCR, like e.g the powder gangers why didnt the ncr have snipers take them out? why didnt the ncr have their first recon squad take out the fiends with a guard of like 10-20 ncr soldiers? why didnt the ncr try peace with the BoS in the first place and negotiate that a certain amount of Helios one energy be sent to the ncr and in return the BoS get control of it and also a constant supply of tech and any old world tech is sent to them for research and possibly construction of more? like FNV brings along so many plot holes that it starts to fall apart when you think about

BuT fAlLoUt NeW vEgAs HaS gOoD sToRy. except every end game questline is literally the exact same "meet the tribes" save or kill BoS "get boomers on side" kill or save khans "kill or save president" fight at dam. literally the same for each questline at the end nothing changes except who you fight and yet this game is meant to be better than fallout 3 that decided you can either let the enclave kill you and do project purity, talk down the enclave and do project purity or impurity (the fev virus thing in the water) kill the enclave and do eithe, which is 5 different endings at the very end and new vegas has 4 questlines that are the exact same thing except who you side and fight with, also each ending doesnt even have that many options and 2 of them are essentially the same meaning there are basically only 3 ending questlines, at least fallout 3 gave you 5 options no wait 5 plus the companion options at the end meaning fallout 3 has more options with 1 let me repeat 1 quest than fallout new vegas has with 4, imagine that, but like i stated at the start BuT fAlLoUt NeW vEgAs HaS gOoD sToRy is basically the only argument people have for why fallout new vegas is better, when it really isnt

About death of all Megaton's citizens and no mark on map. Really? Sounds like you didn't even play the game, there is a terminal in Moriatry's bar where you can find information about your dad, just like in NV with Benny. And about "freedom of choices and dialogs". There is only one skill check in dialogs and it's speech. ONE skill for a whole game that possess itself as RPG with variety choices and multiple skills. Go home dude and catch a dislike, your whole video is garbage, I haven't heard anything useful that would proof your statement about godlike site of this game. Fallout 3 is a good game, yes, but you, sir, is a bad person, trying to convince us with your lies.
