Integrity Statement*
Any game code supplied by PR/Dev is purchased again upon its release and given away to Patrons. No game is reviewed for free and no sponsorships for game reviews taken. My money is on the line just like everyone’s.
I am not one of those bigger gaming website no 2 minute reviews here only details. Videogame reviews all the time. So if you are tired of short reviews, ones that don’t discuss all the game, this is the right place. No big website 2 minute stuff here.
Coverage includes ps4, xbox one, pc, xbox 360, Wii, Wiiu, Switch, and digital storefronts like Steam, as well as companies like Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo
Buy, wait for a sale, rent, or never touch it. The Patented Karak review system to see if a game is worth a buy.
Man can i give you some advice. You're always telling us "I can just about hit 60fps with this and that and the other with my i7 and 1080". How many people watching your show do you suspect has a 1080? Exactly, about 10%. So you're alienating 90% of the your viewers who STILL don't know if they should buy the game or not, because they don't know if it'll run any good on their card. Only that it'll run fine on the best computer on earth you know? Also, the lighting and Atmosphere in this game are great i think, i don't know what you're getting at.
If they removed the white opacity icons on any points of interest the game would go from a 3/10 to a 6/10
What is the point of detective game when you need less then 0.0001 % of your brain to find anything in this game , even reconstructing a scene. Batman games do a better job playing a detective not to mention that it just felt like a downgraded version of the same system , then this so called RPG/story driven Detective game.
Its like im back to being 2 years old with the game holding my hand all the way untill the end of the story.
Allot of care went into this game but at this point you should modify it into a telltale game , i mean its the same thing anyways.
I like how you slowly get worked up into a (mildly crazed?) fervor as the review progresses. Very fitting for a lovecraftian game! I think I'll pass on this until its dirt cheap.
All this time, I anticipated Call of Cthulhu more than The Sinking City. But, since this game is too bad already, I don't know what could be of The Sinking City. I will just wait for another brilliant minds similar to Hidetaka Miyazaki which created Bloodborne to create better Lovecraftian games in the future.
I need an answer to this most important question: IS THIS REALLY A HORROR GAME ? IS IT SCARY ENOUGH TO PAY TRIBUTE TO H.P. LOVECRAFT ?! Because if not, I don't give fuck even if it's the best detective game ever !
I'd say the game is decently interesting, it has a really strong start, the first 4 – 5 hours are great, then the game slowly starts to fall right the fuck off a cliff. Once you end up being able to use a gun, the game becomes a complete shit-show, almost like two different studios made the first and last half. 6/10 game at best.
I really like your reviews. You talk about a lot of things that most so-called 'professional reviewers' (ign) don't even touch on and you're completely honest and never seem to nitpick stupid shit that ign and the like usually do. Plus your verdicts are mostly spot on considering I feel the same way most of the time as you do (which might be because we're veteran gamers) about games and what makes them fun and or revisiting them later or not for another play through. Thanks again for sharing. Later!
Can someone please revive H.P.L. himself to make a good game? Will buy this game if its on sale, but the full price does not seem to be worth it, sadly…
PS.: Bloodborne is not really a lovecraftian game for me, if the only thing you do is hack, slash and evade through monsters.
Damn he goes hard on the game, but yeah, honest review. Totally agree with almost everything he said. +1 for being a trustworthy and honest game reviewer.
I think the curse of Lovecraft's work (and bare in mind there were quite a few of these author's although he's the only one that is well known), is that it's magick is defined by the literary dimension that it's limited to. No movie, let alone game will ever, EVER give his legacy justice. It will never be transferred. Give up simian species and choose transformation by the books.
