The joysticks on all gamesir products are shit. I have two of their controllers (one of which is in the video and disconnects every 10 min)

    gamesir g3w is notoriously bad!
i can attest to that. mine comes with an off center uncalibratable circle pad.
not to mention that it doesnt recognize movement within 20degrees left/right, when holding up or down and moving slightly to the side. dont buy it

The Gamesir G3S has huge issues with wireless….as in it disconnects every 5 minutes and it can't be fixed, it's a firmware issue inside the controller itself, the controller itself is fine though so the G3W will do fine for most people's needs, Overall, best value from mainstream is still the Xbox 360 Wireless Gamepads

Steam controller is the best for me and my use case, yeah it's pretty damn difficult to utilize at first, the magic is in the software. It does have a horrible learning curve but at the same time, once you get used to the software and how to adjust the sensitivity it is by far more accurate than any there controller on the list. It isn't as good as mouse and keyboard however, it does has it benefit of being a good controller for none mouse and keyboard games (fighters, racing, platformed etc).

People in general hate changes or learning something new that feels weird to what they used to, and sadly that is the downfall of this amazing controller.

The steam pads biggest flaw is that you can use xbox and PS4 pads exactly the same way in steam as they get the same customisation options making the Steam controller largely pointless, well unless like me you picked one up on a sale to see what they were like.

The 360 pad was actually fixed pretty early on, it's just that most people still see videos like this that perpetuate the initial problems and ignore the fixes that were put in place. One of the shots of the pad with the silver d-pad was one of the final fixes that allowed you to adjust the d-pad itself, though if I recall it was initially fixed with a 16 way upgrade with the pad designed for pro evo or some other football game, all I can 100% say is that it was the hideous vomit green one as I bought one and still have it to this day.

I'll say this for the sony dpad design, its the only one that has ever given me blisters or just a sore thumb due to that gap in the middle, it was that dpad that got me to go buy a dual shock controller on the day it was released in the UK just so I could stop using the damn thing as much as possible, and to be honest, the only reason its not been so much of an issue since then is because of how few games use the dpad and the primary control now. Thats said I am only reminded of this after a long session on Tekken with a few mates a while back where I was just using the dpad (can't get on with analogue for fighting games but usually I use an xbox pad) and my thumb pad was sore for a couple of says after thaks to that dpad gap even on the DS4, the calus I built up in the PS1 era had long gone.

Its a no brainer, XB1S controller, its the most compatible of all the controllers, even more so than the 360 one as you can use it right out of the box without a wireless receiver (well so long as you have Bluetooth) not to mention it works perfectly with Android or the likes of the Oculus Go for streaming games. Mind you with a 360 receiver it's a pretty level playing field and if you are lucky you can get a combo pack with both for about £30, that's how I got my 2 and that was nearly the price of 1 XB1S controller.

I use a PS4 controller with Inputmapper software. works a charm. Microsoft can go suck a Dee if they think they can charge folks more cash for a second version of there controller because they cant be bothered to update the original.

    Steam Controller.
Learning curve is a thing for sure, but after getting over it the controller is a dream.

The gyro and touch pad combined may not reach the same levels of precision of a mouse, but they come very close. Its still easily enough to turn off all forms of aim assist in fps' and still dominate any other gamepad user, and skilled use can still best kbm users too.

Pushing small buttons in rts'? You wouldnt want to use a mouse for that anyway. Keybinds are the way to go. While it doesnt have the same number of buttons as a full sized keyboard, most games dont use literally every single key. As a result, Steam Input features such as touch or radial menus allows the Steam Controller to actually keep up reasonably well with the number of key binds needed. Simulation games such as Elite:Dangerous? On the steam controller I have all 6dof plus every function completely bound, that is something no xbox controller could do. I even enjoy World of Warcraft on the SC, without using the Console Port addon that was designed to make playing WoW on controllers possible.

The touch pads can also replace the right joystick and dpad and do a fine job of it, but thats where you see the learning curve.

steam controller is absolutely my favorite. I love how you can actually navigate windows with it, and the customizability is unbeatable. the gyroscope makes it so fps without autoaim is actually playable. i also didn't have to go through the learning curve of swapping controllers because i was never a console gamer in the first place, but I did try the xbox controller for a few weeks before getting the steam controller.

Another thing -I bought Xbox controllers for a raspberry pi style console, and yeah . The d pad sucks. Especially playing Tetris when you're pressing down to move the piece faster and it suddenly goes left or right. Sigh.

I play very few games, but I am very dedicated to those few games. Mainly Tetris. And a few other puzzle games. I'm getting a surface pro for digital art , but I think it will be able to handle puyo puyo Tetris. If not I can just play the open source Tetris clone "nullpomino"
Very comfortably with one of these cotrollers !

Xbox 360 wired controller was noticeably higher quality and more durable than the One controllers. Wish they still made them just for PC players. PS4 controller is lovely, but I think the Xbox controller is nicer for 3D shooters due to the trigger design and resistance. I actually prefer to use the R1/L1 buttons for the aiming and firing controls in FPS/3PS because there's so much less travel. The PS4 controller has lovely build quality and Sony's batteries don't seem to die (my original used PS3 controller that came with the first 60GB fatty model PS3 still works fine in 2018). It also has a better d-pad if you're going to be playing a lot of 2D games or emulating. Source: over a decade of experience playing on the Xbox Controller S/360 controller, and as a PS4 owner.

The trigger on controllers.. triggers me. I noticed a bit of a delay when playing shooting games. Does anyone else have this problem? Also the analog is a bit twitchy when playing games. Does anyone have any of these problems? I can not use key boards to play absolutely can't. I try constantly but key boards just do not feel right. On slow rpg games it's possible but not anything else.

I wouldn't say: "most of the games nowadays for consoles first and only later ported to PC" – Most games are actually made for PC first, especially considering on PC there are so many more games.
